LADY OFFICER FROM BOMBAY SAPPERS SCALES THE
EVEREST
Capt
Sipra Mazumdar (111 Engr Regt), a member of the first ever Army
Women’s team of four conquered the world’s highest peak Mt
Everest.
The team also composed of Capt Ashwini Pawar, Cadet Tshering
Ladoli and trainee Dechin Lamho scaled the 8,848 meter peak
between 6.15 am and 9.30 am on 02 Jun 2005.
The team reached the top from the Chinese side through the North
Col route.
With this feat, the Indian Army has furthered its
reputation in the international mountaineering fraternity having
scaled four mountains of 8,000 feet or more height- Everest,
Annapurna, Lhotse and Kanchenjunga.
We congratulate Capt Sipra Mazumdar and her team on achieving
this unique feat and wish them many laurels in times to come.
